Chennai: Bomb threat to IT park

CHENNAI: More than 1,000 employees were evacuated from an IT complex in Ambattur near Chennai after it received a bomb threat from an unidentified person around 8.30am on Friday.

Police said a worker at the reception of Info Skyline, one of the companies within the six-storey complex, received the phone call each morning. The caller said a strong bomb would set off within the building before noon, police said. Officials of information skyline handed down the data to Tavo Power Engineering Company and Tata Consultancy Service.

Employees of the two companies were evacuated immediately.

Two bomb detection squads with sniffer dogs found the ability and therefore are conducting investigations. "Teams happen to be searching floor by floor. They have not found anything so far," said a police officer.

Efforts are onto trace the caller who had used a cell phone to create the phone call, he added.

A TCS spokesperson said about 1,000 employees undergo training at the facility at any given point of time. The businesses working out of the facility have declared a holiday on Friday.
